Lakers now know the asking price for Giannis Antetokounmpo trade

Giannis Antetokounmpo will likely be the Los Angeles Lakers’ No. 1 trade target in the offseason.

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward didn’t get traded before the Feb. 5 trade deadline but is expected to be back on the market once the 2025-26 season concludes.

Based on a recent report from Forbes’ Evan Sidery, it’s now clear to the Lakers what the asking price is for Antetokounmpo moving forward.

“The Bucks were asking for at least five 1st-round picks in a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, per Shams Charania,” Sidery wrote on X/Twitter last Thursday. “Milwaukee set an astronomically high price with Giannis not trying to force his way out at the deadline.”

There’s no question the Bucks value Antetokounmpo heavily. The two-time MVP has been the heart and soul of Milwaukee’s franchise for over a decade, helping it win a title in 2021, and has done his best to help it remain competitive since then.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game with the Bucks this season, shooting 64.5% from the field in 30 contests. If the Lakers want to make a splash in the summer by acquiring Antetokounmpo, they must go above and beyond.

The former NBA Finals MVP won’t come cheap, and with several other franchises preparing to compete for his services, Los Angeles has no choice but to put their best foot forward.

The Lakers’ aggressive pursuit of Antetokounmpo won’t begin until the 2025-26 season concludes.
