Lakers linked to trade for $46.8 million former Knicks, Warriors fan-favorite guard

An NBA insider recently revealed the Los Angeles Lakers’ top trade targets heading into the final few days of the trade deadline.

While some are expected trade targets, there’s one particular surprise that few likely saw coming.

A former New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors fan-favorite guard is now linked to the storied Western Conference franchise

“According to some of those NBA folks, the names that have been attached to the Lakers as potential trade targets are Dallas’ Naji Marshall, a former Doncic teammate, Cleveland’s De’Andre Hunter, Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo, and Sacramento’s Keon Ellis,” The LA Times’ Broderick Turner wrote Wednesday.

DiVincenzo, who’s in the midst of completing his second season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, was a respectable role player with the Warriors and Knicks in the early 2020’s.

DiVincenzo, known for being an effective rhythm three-point shooter, contributed 9.4 points per game while connecting on 43.5% of his field goals and 39.7% of his three-point jumpers with the Dubs in 2022-23.

The Villanova product took his production to an elevated level with the Knicks the following year, averaging a career-best 15.5 points per contest on 44.3% field goal shooting and 40.1% long-range shooting.

While DiVincenzo isn’t a great defender, his elite floor spacing could compel the Lakers to present the Timberwolves with a trade offer they can’t refuse.
