Lakers could acquire Isaiah Stewart from Pistons in possible multi-team trade sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to Heat

The NBA offseason is already getting crazy, as the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes appear to be heating up ahead of Tuesday's draft.

At this moment, the Miami Heat feel like the frontrunner to land Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis reportedly wants to play in Miami, and the Heat are in pursuit of their next superstar to catapult them into championship contention.

However, if Antetokounmpo does get moved to Miami, it will likely be a multi-team trade with a ton of moving parts, as the Bucks are focused on getting the most value for the two-time MVP if they do deal him.

Two teams that could be part of the Antetokounmpo trade with the Heat and Bucks are the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons, and the latest rumor reveals that Los Angeles is eyeing Isaiah Stewart from Detroit.

Stewart connected to Lakers in same trade with Giannis going to Heat

According to Anthony F. Irwin of Offside and Lakers Lounge, the Lakers have been in contact with the Bucks and Pistons to be involved in the massive rumored multi-team trade that would send Giannis to the Heat and Tyler Herro to Detroit.

Stewart has been connected to Los Angeles in these talks.

"Sources: The Lakers have been in contact with the Bucks and Pistons as a part of a potential multi-team deal that could send Giannis to Miami. Isaiah Stewart is a name that keeps coming up in connection with the Lakers," Irwin said.

With Deandre Ayton and Jaxson Hayes set to hit the free agency market this summer, Los Angeles could be in desperate need of center and frontcourt help this offseason.

Though Stewart is a bit undersized at 6-foot-8, the 25-year-old has the versatility to play center and power forward, is a high-energy and tenacious player, and can also stretch the floor. He would be a perfect fit with Los Angeles as a possible starting option or sixth man.

We'll see what transpires in this whole Giannis trade saga and what teams end up being involved. Nevertheless, Stewart would be a fantastic addition to JJ Redick's roster, and the Lakers should actively pursue this offseason, given that the Pistons are already placing him on the trade block.
