If the Los Angeles Lakers can do anything over the next few months, I'd love for them to go get a POA defender.
The Lakers, at the moment, don't really have much resistance on defense.
Unfortunately, the Lakers really don't have many assets or much money to move on from as well. That's why trading for certain players would be nearly impossible, though I'd love to see the Lakers make a move that could help them win immediately.
One of the players I'd love for them to go after is Jrue Holiday, the Portland Trail Blazers guard who might not be much of a perfect fit in Portland any longer because of the Ja Morant route.
“Jrue Holiday, Blazers. (Remaining contract: two years, $72 million, with player option.) Certainly, something has to give in Portland with the arrival of Morant. Holiday is not getting any younger, but he has value around the NBA,” Sean Deveny wrote.
Holiday is the exact type of player that contending teams are looking for, and to me, there really isn't a better fit than Los Angeles because of their lack of defense guard-wise.
The problem, of course, is that Holiday is still making $72 million over the next two seasons, and the Lakers' limited number of assets don't suggest that they can just move on from a couple of second-round picks and get this deal done.
