The Los Angeles Lakers fired on all cylinders against the lowly Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.
Thanks to Luka Doncic’s efficient 41-point outburst, Austin Reaves’ 26-point performance, and a big-time defensive effort, the 17-time NBA champions enjoyed a dominant 116-99 victory.
Even more impressively, the Lakers’ father-son duo made history in a way that the NBA has never seen before.
“LeBron James literally passed it on to the next generation Friday night,” the NBA wrote after the Lakers’ 48th victory of the season.
“The NBA says James recorded the league’s first father-son assist when he passed to Bronny James for a three-pointer in the second quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ game against Brooklyn.”
“The Lakers’ father-and-son duo played meaningful minutes together for the second straight game when the Lakers returned from a successful road trip to host the struggling Nets. Bronny James was on court with his father for nearly 4.5 minutes after they checked in together to start the second quarter.”
Although Bronny’s second season in the big leagues hasn’t been ideal, it’s nice that he was able to enjoy a special moment with his father in a blowout victory.
The USC product was drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft and made history with LeBron on opening night by becoming the first father-son duo to share the floor in an NBA contest.
The pair have now achieved another historic feat, and there could be more to come in the foreseeable future.
