Flights to New York City’s LaGuardia airport have been halted over severe weather, according to aviation officials.

The ground stop at one of New York’s busy domestic airports was put in place just after 11 a.m. Sunday morning as thunder and lightning storms started blowing through the area.

It will remain in place until 1:15 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration, which said there was a 30% to 60% chance it could be extended.

Departures from LaGuardia are also affected, with delays of up to 90 minutes “and increasing,” according to the FAA.

This is a developing story. Please check back for more information.
