LA28 ticket draw hits record 5M signups as Olympic fever sweeps the globe

More than five million people worldwide have registered for ticket access to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles — and there’s still time for even more to get in on the action.

“We are grateful for the millions of people who have expressed interest in joining us in LA in 2028, where more of these stories and dreams will come to life,” Reynold Hoover, LA28 chief executive officer, said in a press release Monday.

The organizing committee said fans from all 50 states and 194 countries across six continents have signed up, averaging about 100,000 new registrations per day — what a spokesperson called “a powerful indicator of the momentum building toward 2028.”

Ticket registration for the first draw remains open through March 18 at tickets.la28.org.

Registration is required for a chance to secure a time slot for the first ticket release window, scheduled for April 9–19. Eligible local residents may also qualify for a presale from April 2–6. Fans who register by March 18 will be notified of their time slots between March 31 and April 7.

Ticket inventory and pricing will vary by sport, session and venue.

Those who do not reach the 12-ticket maximum will automatically be entered into future draws. Paralympic ticket sales are set to begin in 2027, with additional ticket releases planned as the Games approach.

Registration opened Jan. 14 and surpassed 1.5 million sign-ups within the first 24 hours, according to organizers.

The announcement comes as some Southern California politicians have called for LA28 chair Casey Wasserman to step down over past associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Wasserman has previously acknowledged exchanging emails with Maxwell years ago but has denied any wrongdoing.
