The LA Sparks defeated the New York Liberty 101-99 on Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Rickea Jackson knocked the game-winner in the final play of the game. She led LA with 24 points on 9-for-15, including 4-for-6 from the 3-point line. Kelsey Plum finished with 20 points, eight assists and four rebounds on 5-for-14, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range.

Azura Stevens added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Sparks, while Dearica Hamby had 17 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-11. Rae Burrell contributed 12 points off the bench.

Sabrina Ionescu led New York with 30 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals on 12-for-22, including 2-for-7 from 3-point range. Natasha Cloud finished with 22 points and nine assists on 8-for-15 (3-for-7 on 3-pointers). Jonquel Jones added 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 5-for-12.

Leonie Fiebich chipped in 10 points on 4-for-7, while Marine Johannes contributed nine points off the bench on 2-for-6 from the 3-point line. Two-time WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart left the game midway through the first quarter. She was later ruled out of the rest of the game due to a lower leg injury.

Coming into the game, both teams were on winning streaks. With the loss, New York dropped to 17-7, and its five-game winning run was snapped. Meanwhile, LA (11-14) has now won five straight games, which is the longest active streak in the league.

The Liberty return to action on Monday to face Paige Bueckers' Dallas Wings. Meanwhile, the Sparks will host the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena.

LA Sparks vs New York Liberty game summary

The LA Sparks had a 35-20 lead over the New York Liberty at the end of the opening quarter. Rickea Jackson scored 17 points on 6-for-7 (3-for-4 from 3-point range) in the first quarter. Kelsey Plum added nine points on 3-for-5 (3-for-4 on 3-pointers).

The Sparks maintained their lead the rest of the first half, and had a 58-45 advantage at halftime. Jackson led LA with 20 points on 7-for-8 in the first half. Dearica Hamby added 13 points and six rebounds on 6-for-8, while Plum chipped in 11 points.

Ionescu scored 12 of her 17 first-half points in the second period. She shot 7-for-13, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range for New York. No other Liberty player scored in double figures in the first half.

New York outscored LA 24-16 in the third quarter to trim the Sparks' lead to five (74-69) heading into the final frame.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Ionescu's short jumper cut LA's lead to two (87-85). Down the stretch, Ionescu tied the game at 99 with 23.1 seconds remaining. In the final play, Jackson knocked the game-winner off an inbound play.
