Samantha Busch Celebrates Son Brexton's First Racecar Win Since Kyle Busch’s Death
The rock world is mourning a tremendous loss.
Days after rock band L7 announced that its bassist Jennifer Finch was battling "an aggressive form of brain cancer," the musician died on July 18, her bandmates confirmed. She was 59.
“With a very heavy heart we announce that our beloved bandmate, friend, and fellow troublemaker Jennifer Finch has passed away today,” the alt-rock band wrote in an Instagram post July 18. "She had a long courageous fight with brain cancer and was loved by many wonderful friends, musical peers and fans worldwide.”
They added, “We love you Jennifer."
Following the tragic news, Finch’s loved ones also touched on her enduring legacy.
"We are devastated to announce the death of our partner, sister, daughter, and friend Jennifer Precious Finch," read a statement shared to Finch's Instagram July 18. "Jennifer’s impact on the world of music was seismic; her impact on our lives, even moreso.”
“We appreciate everyone’s interest and concern, thank you for all the kind messages,” the statement continued. “We appreciate some space to heal privately during this difficult time.”
Less than a week before her death, Finch's loved ones announced she was battling "an aggressive form of brain cancer," sharing the news on her Instagram profile, while also launching a GoFundMe to help cover medical costs.
"After her diagnosis, there was hope that treatment would give her a path back to some version of normal life," read the July 13 Instagram post, which featured a photo of Finch in a hospital bed. "Instead, complications brought multiple surgeries and a relentless series of setbacks."
They added, "Jennifer is now living with significant physical limitations and requires a level of care that love, friendship, and sheer determination cannot safely provide around the clock."
Finch, who joined L7 in 1986, was previously diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2011, according to Rolling Stone.
Prior to Finch's death, the latest lineup of L7—which was active from 1985 to 2001, before reuniting in 2014— consisted of its core group: founders Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, along with Dee Plakas and Finch.

Following her diagnosis, the grunge band shared that Finch was no longer going to join the group for the U.S. leg of their Last Hurrah Tour this fall, noting that their bandmate encouraged them to continue.
"Although she will not be able to join us for the upcoming U.S. dates, Jennifer has asked us to continue with the tour as planned," L7 wrote in a since-deleted statement. "We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority.”
As the band moves forward, they will always hold their beloved bassist in their hearts.
"Jennifer was a true original who lived entirely on her own terms, and the impact she made on music, art and everyone lucky enough to know her cannot be measured," L7 shared in a statement to Rolling Stone. "We love her beyond words and will carry her with us always. Rest in power our dear friend.”
