Following their first loss in the last 10 games, Monday against the Detroit Pistons, the Charlotte Hornets looked to get back in the win column before the All-Star break.
Facing the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday, Charlotte had a chance to move up to ninth in the Eastern Conference with a win.
Despite missing both Moussa Diabate and Miles Bridges due to suspensions, everything went as planned for the Hornets in the first three quarters. Heading into the fourth, Charlotte led by 14. That said, they faced some resistance in the final frame, but ultimately held off a late Atlanta comeback to win by three.
Brandon Miller was the star, finishing with a game-high 31 points. PJ Hall also impressed off the bench, after being recalled from the Greensboro Swarm, posting his first career double-double off the bench with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Kon Knueppel continued his stellar shooting from three-point range, finishing 4-of-7 from downtown.
Following the game, Knueppel spoke with the media about Charlotte's success, causing the team to shift their mindset heading into games. "We come into every game as the hunters. That's kind of flipped from the beginning of the season. We were building good habits, but now we come in expecting to win games."
Instead of looking to pull off an upset, it seems as though Knueppel and the Hornets have confidence that they can win every game they play in.
After defeating teams like Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Houston, Denver and nearly beating Detroit, it's easy to see why.
Following the All-Star break, Knueppel and the Hornets will return to action against the Rockets.
