Kobe Bryant's nephew is a 5-star recruit.
Not in basketball, though, but in football.
And on Thursday night, Jett Washington made his college football commitment. He's going to play for the Oregon Ducks.
“Oregon has what I am looking for,” Washington told On3 Sports. “My relationships with the coaches are strong, coach Lanning is a defensive-minded head coach, I love the whole environment and Oregon sets their guys up for life after football. Just the fit at Oregon is right for me.”
Washington's top-3 had also included Alabama and USC.
He is ranked the No. 27 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Washington is a safety who plays at Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada. He's entering his senior season this fall.
His mother is the late Bryant's older sister.
Last year, Washington's father told The Athletic, "Jett was Kobe's guy."
Now, Washington will be the guy for all the Oregon football fans out there. There were clearly some good genes in the family, and Washington will bring them to the Ducks.
