Knicks spoil Spurs’ perfect Game 1 Finals record — former Cowboys star responds with fiery ‘receipts’ threat

Heading into Wednesday's game, the San Antonio Spurs carried a spotless NBA Finals Game 1 record in franchise history, never having dropped an opener on the league’s biggest stage. That perfect streak came to an end at home, as the New York Knicks walked out with a 105-95 win, handing the Spurs a rare Finals opening loss on their own floor.

The game result sparked reactions online, including a jab from a fan directed at former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who is well known for his strong support of the Spurs on social media. However, Bryant didn’t stay quiet, as he fired back with a warning message.

“Don’t delete your tweet…we are keeping receipts,” Bryant tweeted.

Bryant later doubled down by pinning the post to his X profile. He was also highly active throughout the night and shared multiple reactions to the Spurs-Knicks showdown. Among them was a bold prediction that still backed the Spurs despite the Game 1 loss.

“Spurs lost a 15 point lead against OKC and responded in fashion. Knicks winning Game 1 is good for TV.🤣 Spurs in 6,” Bryant tweeted.

The loss also marked a big shift in momentum, as the Spurs surrendered home-court advantage after blowing a 14-point lead during the contest. Meanwhile, the Knicks continued their dominant postseason run, extending their winning streak to 12 straight playoff wins and remaining undefeated since April 23.

However, both teams arrive in the Finals with magnificent credentials. The Spurs previously eliminated the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder from title contention, while the Knicks have been on a historic surge of their own.
