The New York Knicks have conducted a successful offseason, and the franchise's most recent decision serves as the potential cherry on top prior to the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign.
It was announced on Thursday evening that the Knicks and Bridges shook hands on a new deal to keep the 6-foot-6 star in town through the 2028-29 season with a player option for 2029-30.
"New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges has agreed to a four-year, $150 million contract extension with the franchise, agents Sam Goldfeder and Jordan Gertler of Excel Sports Management tell ESPN," ESPN's Shams Charania shared via Twitter/X on Thursday.
"The new deal includes a player option for 2029-30 and a trade kicker."
After playing a huge part in leading the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years this past postseason, the storied franchise has decided to keep Bridges around due to his impressive two-way ability and proven readiness in high-leverage playoff situations.
Through the first two contests of the Knicks' 2025 Eastern Conference Semi-Final series against the Boston Celtics, Bridges closed out both contests with incredibly well-timed defensive stops to seal two massive victories.

While appearing in all 82 regular-season games for the Knicks in 2024-25, the former 2022 Defensive Player of the Year runner-up as a member of the Phoenix Suns averaged 17.6 points, 3.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 steals while knocking down 35.4% of his 5.6 attempts from three-point range.
Bridges proved to be an integral part of the Knicks' core throughout the 2025 NBA Playoffs, and it appears as though he'll stick around for the long haul to star alongside Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart.
