Knicks may target 3-time All-Star forward, ex-Bucks NBA champion to support Jalen Brunson

The New York Knicks have added plenty of depth behind their superstar scoring tandem of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, as the franchise plans on making another deep postseason run in 2025-26.

Though New York acquired a former Sixth Man of the Year winner in Jordan Clarkson and solid frontcourt contributor Guerschon Yabusele in free agency, their most impactful acquisition may still be on the horizon.

New York may have an opportunity to welcome their solidified tertiary offensive option aboard in the coming weeks or months, as recent reports have indicated that ex-Milwaukee Bucks forward and 2021 NBA champion Khris Middleton could become available on the open market if he were to agree on a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards.

If the 33-year-old were to become an unrestricted free agent, the Knicks could certainly have a level of interest in bringing him on to compete for a title in 2025-26.

"Multiple contending teams are monitoring Khris Middleton’s future with the Wizards," Forbes' Evan Sidery shared via Twitter/X on Thursday afternoon.

"On a $33.3 million expiring contract, plus an extensive injury history, teams are not willing to offer notable compensation in a trade."

"Middleton is a strong buyout candidate at some point."

Middleton's 13th NBA season came to an interesting conclusion last year, as the longtime sidekick to Milwaukee's 2-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo was dealt to the Wizards prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline in a deal centered around Kyle Kuzma.

Though the 3-time All-Star and versatile scorer's production dropped off last season thanks to nagging injuries, there's no reason to believe that he can't remain an integral part of a championship team when healthy.

In 37 appearances while splitting time between Milwaukee and Washington, Middleton averaged 11.9 points and 4.1 assists while knocking down 36.1% of his 3.6 attempts from three-point range.

As a potential complementary piece alongside both Brunson and Towns, he could serve as a wonderful addition to a Knicks team aiming to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, especially if he agrees to a team-friendly deal as a free agent.
