Knicks' first Finals home game in 27 years sends MSG ticket prices into the stratosphere

There's plenty of excitement in New York as the Knicks are returning to play their first NBA Finals home game since June 1999. It's been 27 years since the fans around Madison Square Garden have seen the Knicks play the biggest series at home. The buzz for Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs has reached a fever pitch, with ticket prices soaring.

On the morning of NBA Finals Game 3, the cheapest ticket available to see the Knicks host the Spurs at MSG has reportedly climbed over $5,000. The exact figure is $ 5,212.54. This is the kind of money that people spend on vacations, but now they have to literally empty their pockets just to get a seat in what could be an historic Finals for the franchise, which last won the NBA championship in 1973.

Interestingly, the 1999 NBA Finals had the same opponents as the 2026 Finals. It's again the Spurs vs the Knicks. Back then, the Spurs dominated the Knicks with a 4-1 series win in the NBA Finals. However, this time, Jalen Brunson & Co. have rattled the Spurs at home, clinching both games, placing them just two games away from winning only their third NBA championship in the Knicks history.

Knicks have history working by their side against Spurs

This time feels different in New York.

Up by 2-0 in the NBA Finals, the Knicks have history on their side. No team in the NBA Finals history has been able to come back from a 2-0 deficit after losing both opening games at home.

This means Victor Wembanyama & Co. will need to do something unprecedented to stretch the series back to San Antonio.
