The New York Knicks might have more celebrity fans than any other NBA team, but following summer league takes another level of dedication.

Throughout the Knicks’ run to the Eastern Conference Finals, it was easy to see some of the most recognizable faces on the sidelines cheering on New York. Along with Spike Lee and Timothée Chalamet, Ben Stiller was a staple at Knicks games throughout the postseason.

Stiller’s acting career has taken him many places, and he has become one of the most recognizable people in the industry. So, naturally, when he channels his sports fandom, he picks up a bit more traction than the average fan, even getting shown on the broadcast.

However, his thoughts on summer league might be another thing that makes him relatable to the rest of NBA fandom. On Sunday, the Knicks lost their summer league matchup against the Boston Celtics, prompting Stiller to post about his displeasure.

Stiller said he was unsure if he could invest in summer league action, and that’s fair for a fan of a team like the Knicks. After watching his team finish two wins away from the NBA Finals, there aren’t many exciting prospects for fans to see in Vegas.

While other fanbases are getting a look at potential stars in the making, the Knicks are only putting out players unlikely to see any meaningful minutes next season. There aren’t many drawbacks to being a fan of a title contender, but Ben Stiller’s summer league thoughts provided one example.
