One way the Kings could really pivot towards the future would be by trading their last remaining star. Domantas Sabonis has been a steady presence for the Kings, but it might be time to ask what type of ceiling a team led by him can have. This might not seem like a great haul for Sabonis. After all, he’s been one of the best centers in the league for years now. So, should the Kings go for a trade like this? Probably not. If the Kings are going to trade Sabonis, they should prioritize a package centered around young players and picks. While Gafford and Washington are solid players, they aren’t going to help the Kings turn their franchise around.

The Kings should genuinely consider blowing it up. They aren’t good enough to compete with the best in the Western Conference. They aren’t bad enough to land a top lottery pick.
