King Charles III Will Support Any Investigation Into Brother Prince Andrew

King Charles III does not condone the actions of his family.

After the monarch’s brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) was arrested on Feb. 19—the same day as his 66th birthday—Charles released a statement condemning his brother.

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the statement, obtained by Sky News, read. "What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” the 77-year-old continued. “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

Though, he won’t be speaking out on the topic more.

"As this process continues,” Charles concluded. "it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all."

Earlier in the day, Thames Valley Police confirmed it had opened an investigation into an allegation of misconduct in public office, which came amid Andrew’s alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence,” police said in a statement. “We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”

Prior to Andrew’s arrest, Buckingham Palace addressed how Charles felt about a potential investigation.

"The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct," the Feb. 9 statement obtained by ITV News read. "While the specific claims in question are for Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them as you would expect."

"As was previously stated," the statement continued, "Their Majesties’ thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse."

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton expressed their deep concerns about the Epstein revelations, a Kensington Palace spokesperson shared with MS Now. "Their thoughts remain focused on the victims."

Months before his arrest, Andrew announced he would be giving up his royal titles amid the increased scrutiny over his association with Epstein.

“In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family,” he said in an Oct. 17 statement released by Buckingham Palace, “we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”

By the end of October, Charles had also stripped his brother of his remaining title of Prince
