The Cleveland Browns have suffered yet another loss, as the team fell to the New England Patriots by a score of 32-13 on Sunday. Cleveland is now 2-6 on the year and has yet to win a game on the road.
Dillon Gabriel once again got the start for Cleveland at quarterback and didn't look spectacular. The rookie signal-caller completed 21 of 35 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.
Gabriel has started four games for the Browns this season and hasn't looked great while tallying a 1-3 record. However, it looks like Cleveland is sticking with the Oregon product as their starting quarterback.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced after Sunday's loss to the Patriots that Gabriel will remain the Browns' starting quarterback. Stefanski also defended Gabriel, stating that his struggles are typical for a rookie quarterback.
"Every position you have to look at, but with a young quarterback, there are going to be ups and downs," Stefanski said of Gabriel's poor performance against New England via Jeff Schudel of The News-Herald.
With Gabriel keeping the starting job, that means Shedeur Sanders will continue to wait for his opportunity. The Colorado product was inactive in Week 8 due to a back injury.
The Browns will enjoy a much-needed bye week before heading back on the road to square off against the New York Jets. If Gabriel struggles in New York after the bye, Stefanski will have to seriously think about making a change at the sport's most vital position.
