In his first season with the Houston Rockets, Kevin Durant has proven that he's still one of the league's best scorers. However, Rockets fans will have to wait a bit before they see Durant in harness once again.

On Sunday, ESPN's Shams Charania broke the news that KD would be missing at least two games this week. Ironically, those games are against teams that Durant used to suit up for.

"Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant will miss Monday's game in Phoenix and Wednesday's contest in Golden State tending to a family matter, sources tell ESPN," Charania tweeted.

Up to this point, Durant has not missed a single game in his stint with the Rockets. The former MVP is averaging 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1 blocks, and a steal per outing for his new team.

Houston is the fifth stop in Durant's storied NBA career. After nine seasons of putting the OKC Thunder on the map, the 6-foot-11 sniper shocked the world when he joined forces with the Splash Brothers duo of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson in Golden State.

In his three-year stay with the Warriors, Durant won two NBA titles and two Finals MVP trophies. As talented as Durant is, he has not been able to reach those heights in his subsequent stints with the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns.

Around the 2025 trade deadline, there were speculations swirling about the Suns planning to ship Durant. These rumors did not come to fruition that season, but they did lead to a rift between the Suns organization and the 11-time All-Star. Ultimately, Phoenix pulled the trigger on an offseason deal that sent Durant to Houston.

"Real life s*** can happen to everyone": Podcaster slams netizens calling Kevin Durant "scared" to face former teams

The news of Durant missing games against Phoenix and Golden State this week has been met with criticism from some fans, who claim that Durant is "scared" to face his former teams.

In response, Arizona-based podcaster Erik Ruby called out these netizens for making such a claim.

"Suns fans who witnessed how much Kevin Durant cares about the game of basketball who also think he’s going to miss games because he’s “scared” is ridiculous," Ruby tweeted. "You don’t have to like him, but let’s be serious (for once) & acknowledge real life s*** can happen to everyone."
