Houston Rockets star forward Kevin Durant has already won four Olympic Gold Medals as part of the USA basketball team, but he wants to add another one to his collection.
Despite some speculation that the 2024 games in Paris would be Durant’s final pursuit of Olympic gold, the two-time champion made it clear that he would like to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
"Hell yeah, I want to play," Durant said. "I would love to, but I've got to stay on top of my game. I'm not expecting, I want to produce on the floor and make Grant and whoever is making the decisions, want to put me on the team. I don't want -- not just for seniority. I want to still prove I can help the team win."
Durant said that the notion that the ’24 games in Paris were his Olympic swan song was media-driven and not based on anything he ever said.
"You guys, the media, have projected that," Durant said. "That narrative, where did the last dance thing come from? I didn't say I wasn't playing. LeBron said he wasn't. You didn't hear that from me or Steph."
