Kevin Durant engagement
Durant's relationship with Wright featured its fair share of highs and lows. Both basketball players were the No. 2 overall picks in their respective draft classes. Durant went second to the Seattle Supersonics in 2007, and Wright went second to the Minnesota Lynx in 2010. Today, Weight is the General Manager for the Toronto Tempo, one of the WNBA's newest expansion franchises.
In an interview with GQ in 2015, Durant admitted that he didn't really know how to love her. Even the engagement itself was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
"We was just hanging out, chilling. And I felt the energy. I felt, I need to do this right now. And I just did it. I was like... We're engaged right now? We're about to get married?" Durant said.
When it came to breaking off her engagement with Durant, Wright told Risen Magazine that her faith helped her to feel comfortable with the decision.
“There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it. Because I hold to what I know to be true, that is what God will reward instead of what people on the earth think is a good catch,” Wright said.
Today, Wright is married to Michael Rogers, a former college basketball player at Valparaiso. They have one son together.
