Kevin Durant continues to sabotage his legacy

The very early version of Kevin Durant in the NBA was pitched to us as the loyal basketball purist, the ideal small-market personality. He enjoyed playing in Oklahoma City. He might play there forever, right? That was the vibe. In the wake of The Decision, Durant was considered the anti-LeBron James. 

But here we sit — roughly 15 years since LeBron uttered “South Beach” — and Durant is set to join his fifth franchise after orchestrating another trade, this time from Phoenix to Houston. His career has devolved into perpetual restlessness, and not the productive kind. 

Instead of trying to fix whatever problems he’s facing with his franchise — some of which were his own making — Durant just leaves. 

Starting a new family is easier than therapy.
