Kelsey Plum is going to be out for a while.
The Los Angeles Sparks' star guard will miss the next four weeks with a lower left leg injury, the team confirmed Wednesday.
MORE: Cameron Brink's injury comes at worst possible time for Sparks as Minnesota challenge looms
Plum is enjoying the best statistical season of her 10-year WNBA career. She is averaging 23.9 points and 6.4 assists per game for a Sparks team that has desperately needed her contributions.
Los Angeles has one of the WNBA's worst defenses, ranking 13th in defensive rating. However, the Sparks are 8-8 and in the thick of the playoff race thanks to a good offense that has been led by veterans Plum and Nneka Ogwumike.
Per Sparks PR, Kelsey Plum (lower left leg) will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
Huge blow for the Sparks, who are 7-5 with her, 1-3 without her.
Plum's one of two players in the league that rank in the top 10 in scoring (2nd) and assists (6th).
The timeline given by the Sparks likely rules Plum out of action through the All-Star Game, which will be held July 25 at the United Center in Chicago.
It is obviously a huge blow to the Sparks, with the news coming shortly after Cameron Brink was ruled out for multiple weeks with a left ankle sprain.
