A mood was set on Wednesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark—and quite a surprising one for daytime TV, at that.

Just minutes into this mornings previously recorded episode, Mark Consuelos informed viewers that “joyful music can ease motion sickness,” while “sad songs” may have an adverse effect.

“You get motion sickness, but it’s usually because you’re reading,” he told Kelly Ripa, who clarified that she “do[es]n’t get motion sick.”

“What happens is if you put me in a car, if I’m not driving in the car, I fall asleep,” she explained. “I don’t know if that’s a form of motion sickness, but it’s a motion sickness. I cannot stay awake in a car if I’m not driving.”

After Ripa insisted that she’s “the most alert person” if she is driving, the Live team decided to put Ripa to the test, and played some soothing music that Ripa could only describe as “porno music.”

“Yeah, ok. There’s nothing like porno music in the middle of my diatribe,” she quipped.

Consuelos continued reading that “researchers have discovered that soft, gentle music and upbeat, gentle songs were the most effective at lessening the symptoms of motion sickness.”

“Sad music actually made motion sickness worse,” he added with a laugh.

While today’s host chat featured new content, Wednesday’s episode included previously aired interviews with comedian Sarah Silverman and actress Gabrielle Union.
