Keldon Johnson looks back on the journey he had with the Spurs to reach his first Playoffs

The San Antonio Spurs have clinched their spot in the Playoffs for the first time since 2017. It has been a long time since the Spurs have been a fixture in the postseason, but now, they are firmly one of the best teams in the Western Conference again.

People got used to seeing the Spurs for 20 years while Gregg Popovich was in charge, with players like Tim Duncan. Since 2019, Keldon Johnson has been with the Spurs, but he has never reached the postseason until now.

Johnson appreciates the long journey to the Playoffs with the Spurs

As the sole player who stuck with the Spurs amid all their struggles over the past seven years, Johnson is a well-respected figure. At the same time, Johnson knows what it took for the Spurs to get back to this successful platform.

Through the years, Johnson has been a consistent player for the Spurs. He was once a starter who was leading the charge, but now, he has embraced his role as the sixth man for a potential title challenger.

Since he went through all the tough times with the Spurs, he has a special connection to the people within the organization. That is why he made sure to show his appreciation after the Spurs clinched their postseason berth.

"When we were at 22 wins, now that we are at 51 wins, I think those people each and every day give us 100%. I feel like you guys, or to the media and people outside, they are the engines," Johnson said about the people within the Spurs organization.

"We go out, we perform, we play together, we have fun and win, but without our medical staff, video team, they get us ready for every game."

Johnson made sure to shout out all the people he could, from the medical staff to the people who handle the game tapes. It is a classy act to do because Johnson appreciates everyone. 

They have all worked hard to help the Spurs reach the Playoffs again. It is up to the players and coaching staff to deliver on the expectations, but Johnson admits that it was a colletive effort from top to bottom.
