While starring in Samuel Beckett’s 1953 existential play “Waiting for Godot” in recent months Keanu Reeves — the beloved Beirut-born, Toronto-raised actor — was living in a stylish Chelsea penthouse that is heading back to market for $7.99 million, Gimme Shelter can reveal.
The chic loft, at 522 W. 22nd St., is owned by fellow Canadian Linda Evangelista, the ’80s supermodel. These days, Evangelista is more private than ever, although she did share a picture of her son Augustin graduating from high school last June. Augustin’s father, François-Henri Pinault and his wife, Salma Hayek, were also there to celebrate, and the women have reportedly forged a friendship over their blended family.
Reeves paid around $45,000 a month, sources told Gimme.
The sprawling penthouse was last on the market for $8.19 million in April.
Reeves and his long-time love, Alexandra Grant, managed to keep their residential rental digs under the radar — even as Grant shared photos about how much fun she and Reeves are having in the Big Apple — including a recent date night on the rink in front of Rockefeller Center’s glittering Christmas tree.
The couple also share Reeves’ longtime cliffside home in the Hollywood Hills, which he bought for around $5 million in 2003 after years of hotel living at Chateau Marmont Hotel in West Hollywood. Reeves’ 5,600-square-foot abode is in the trendy “Bird Streets” neighborhood, according to reports.
Evangelista’s fashionable aerie comes with four bedrooms and two baths — all in a six-story, elevator building.
At 4,022 square feet, the loft features an open layout with lovely design details that include polished concrete floors and ceilings up to 13 feet high.
The open eat-in chef’s kitchen features handsome exposed brick. There’s also a great room with three exposures, skylights and a fireplace. A corner main bedroom suite comes with High Line views, a spa-like bath and a dressing room with six floor-to-ceiling custom closets.
Three additional bedrooms can also function as guest rooms, home offices or creative spaces.
Evangelista bought the home for $1.4 million in 2001, according to city records.
The listing broker is Steve Gold, of Corcoran.
