Kayvon Thibodeaux trade rumors reveal Giants' asking price, probability of deal

With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, many are wondering if the New York Giants will make edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux available.

It's understandable why. The Giants are sitting at 2-6 and need more draft capital for their rebuild. New York is especially deep at edge rusher, with the team also sporting Abdul Carter and Brian Burns.

However, it appears to be status quo when it comes to Thibodeaux's availability. As several other outlets have reported, the Giants don't intend on dealing Thibodeaux, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

The Giants have named an asking price of a first-round pick, although that basically reinforces New York isn't going to deal the former top-five pick because that's simply too high of a demand and no team is going to meet it.

"The Giants do not plan to move pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. They previously told inquiring teams that the price would be a first-round pick," Russini reported.

New York really doesn't have a reason to be in a rush to move Thibodeaux, as he still has another year on his contract in 2026.

Furthermore, general manager Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll need all hands on deck if they're going to finish the season strong and save their jobs. Trading Thibodeaux would not help their cause.

All that said, the Giants could re-visit trading Thibodeaux next offseason, when he'll be entering the final year of his contract. There should be a robust market considering Thibodeaux's age and the fact he plays a premium position.

But that will depend upon the Giants considering Thibodeaux as part of their long-term plans. Seeing as how he'll only be 25 in December, it's possible they do.
