“Who Says” exes can’t be friends?
Katy Perry and John Mayer were spotted catching up at Sabrina Carpenter’s concert in Los Angeles on Sunday — nearly a decade after calling it quits.
While the exes arrived at the Kia Forum separately, Mayer, 47, was seated right behind Perry, 40, in the VIP section.
In a video shared on Deuxmoi’s Instagram, the “Teenage Dream” singer could be seen turned around and chatting with the “Gravity” crooner, who leaned forward in his seat.
The duo seemed deep in conversation as they waited for the “Short n’ Sweet” concert to start despite their complicated history.
Mayer kept his outfit low-key, opting for simple gray trousers and a black jacket.
Perry, for her part, rocked a gray mini dress with a brown lace trim, which she paired with a brown trench coat and black knee-high boots.
The “Dark Horse” singer was joined by her 4-year-old daughter, Daisy, whom she shares with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Perry began dating the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, 47, one year after she and Mayer ended their relationship.
The exes first sparked romance rumors in 2009 but did not start dating until three years later after reconnecting as pen pals.
They bonded over their creativity and love for music during their years-long romance, even collaborating on the 2013 track “Who You Love.”

However, they were notoriously hot and cold, breaking up several times before officially ending things for good in 2015.
Although Perry moved on with Bloom, Mayer seemed to have a hard time getting over the pop star.
In 2017, he released a song called “Still Feel Like Your Man,” which he admitted was about Perry.
In the song, Mayer sings about keeping an ex’s shampoo in his shower in case she ever comes back and holding on to old letters because he fears he is “never gonna find another” person like her.
While the singer-songwriter has not been in a public relationship since their split, he previously revealed he is ready to settle down.
“People don’t think I want to be married. I absolutely want to be married,” he told pal Kelly Rizzo in January.
He continued, “You know the secret, which is that I’m actually fairly well-adjusted. And I so badly want to get married if only for my wife to just know in her heart, like, ‘John will know what to do.’ I just think that level of being relied on is the hottest thing in the world to me.”
