Kate Moss returns to the Gucci runway 30 years later in a gown with a peekaboo thong

Gucci gave Kate Moss a very cheeky homecoming.

The British supermodel, 52, closed Demna’s first Gucci runway show on Friday in Milan, walking the catwalk at Palazzo Delle Scintille in a sparkling black turtleneck gown cut low down the sides to reveal a flashy thong — and the two swallows she has tattooed on her lower back.

It was a full-circle moment for Moss, who was one of Tom Ford’s go-to Gucci girls in the mid-’90s and hadn’t walked for the house in roughly three decades.

Her last appearance, in fact, was Ford’s spring 1997 show — the very collection that introduced the designer’s now-legendary interlocking-G thong to the fashion world.

Ford closed that show with two models — a man and a woman — wearing the daring design, sending the fashion world into a frenzy.

Friday’s show, dubbed “Primavera” after the Botticelli painting that inspired the Gucci Flora fragrance, marked Demna’s first proper runway presentation since taking the creative reins at the Italian house.

Moss was in famous company on the catwalk. Emily Ratajkowski, Karlie Kloss, Vivian Wilson and Gabbriette also took turns in the designer’s debut collection, which leaned heavily into slinky silhouettes, flashes of skin and Ford-era callbacks.

In recent years, the Gucci thong has undergone a fashion renaissance. Kim Kardashian and Solange were among the first to show off the archival piece in 2019, and since then, the look has become a celebrity fixture.

Lori Harvey posed in the bikini version of the G-string during a Mexico vacation last September, while Hailey Bieber wore a custom crystal gown by Gucci with a matching exposed thong to the GQ Men of the Year party two months later.

With Demna at the helm, the barely-there underwear is back on the runway where it started.
