Kate Middleton surprised cancer patients at the same hospital where she underwent chemotherapy.
The Princess of Wales made a rare public appearance at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on Tuesday.
“The Princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment the Marsden provides,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement.
Middleton was photographed hugging and comforting patients currently seeking treatment at the respected health facility.
Royal fans were also seen excitedly crowding around the princess, patiently waiting to greet her.
“The treatments are really so different and so varied, it impacts families differently,” she said during her visit, according to the BBC.
“I was just saying, coming in the front entrance here, having made so many quiet, private visits, actually it’s quite nice,” she added of returning to the hospital.
The Royal Foundation founder — who announced that she had completed her cancer treatment in September 2024 — also thanked staffers for helping her battle the illness.
Middleton, 43, wore a stylish red quarter-sleeve mock-neck dress layered under a brown plaid coat and accessorized with brown heels and a maroon purse.
Following her emotional greeting, Kensington Palace announced that Middleton joined her husband, Prince William, in becoming joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
“We are incredibly fortunate to receive Royal Patronage – it is inspiring for staff and patients and enables us to shine a light on the outstanding work our staff deliver every day for patients and their families,” Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Dame Cally Palmer said.
“The Royal Marsden opened its doors in 1851 as the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education. Today, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer center operating across three sites in Chelsea, Sutton and Cavendish Square in central London.”

Middleton celebrated being cancer-free last September — less than a year after she was diagnosed.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she admitted at the time.
Doctors discovered Middleton’s cancer last January after she underwent a planned abdominal surgery.
However; Middleton didn’t reveal her cancer diagnosis until that March after rumors swirled surrounding her health due to her long absence from public events.
She did not disclose what type of cancer she was being treated for.
King Charles III, who was diagnosed with cancer last February, expressed his support for his daughter-in-law and the royals even bonded over their similar situation.
