Kate Hudson Weighs in on Her Kids’ Future Careers
When it comes to her kids' careers, Kate Hudson wants them to be running point.
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star revealed what path she could potentially see for all her kids: Ryder Robinson, 21, who she shares with ex Chris Robinson, Bingham Bellamy, 14, who she shares with ex Matt Bellamy, and Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, 7, who she shares with partner Danny Fujikawa.
As Kate exclusively told E! News' Francesca Amiker on the red carpet of the Oct. 26 Canva World Premiere of Song Sung Blue at AFI Fest 2025, "They're all musical."
However, the 46-year-old will only support her little ones picking up instruments if it's what truly brings them joy.
"I want them to be happy—internally happy—and actually live just a good, like, content life," Kate said. "That's what I want."
And in order for her children to reach that level of "real self-possession," she understands that they're going to have to go through some trial and error. In fact, Kate shared that she encourages them to "make tons of mistakes."
"And have fun and be rebellious," she added of the advice she passes down. "Don't let anybody tell you how to do your thing, you know? Be good people—that's all I care about."
Of course, if Ryder, Bingham and Rani do end up in the music industry, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise. In addition to their dads being rockers, Kate has also explored her own passion for singing over the years, most recently in her new movie Song Sung Blue.

For the Almost Famous actress—who plays Neil Diamond tribute band member Claire Sardina in the film opposite Hugh Jackman's Mike Sardina—her role in the project allowed her to show off creative talents she's been honing for years.
"Music has always been what moves me the most," Kate explained. "Playing a musician and being able to play a piano—it was just actually utilizing what I love so much. I haven't really been able to do it that like [I did] in this movie."
