Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey Prove Their Love Is Mile-High at the Critics Choice Awards 2026
Kaley Cuoco is getting candid about a low point in her life.
The Big Bang Theory alum looked back on her 2021 breakup with ex-husband Karl Cook after 3 years of marriage, reflecting on reaching a breaking point the following year amid their divorce proceedings.
“It was the premiere of the second season of Flight Attendant, and I woke up that morning, I was so depressed and so sad, I couldn't even breathe and I was just laying on the floor,” she said during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show set to air Feb. 9, per Entertainment Weekly. “I literally thought I was gonna die. I really did. I said, ‘What am I doing?’”
Kaley, 40, admitted her despair was so intense that she nearly pulled out of the red carpet event at the last minute.
“My team came over to get me ready, and they literally got me ready on the floor,” she recalled. “I couldn’t get up. I'm like, ‘I can't go. I can't go anywhere. I blew up my life. My life’s over.’ I truly thought that. Never getting married again. I'm never gonna have kids. This is it.”
But as fate would have it, Kaley—who was previously married to Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016—met Tom Pelphrey shortly thereafter, and the couple welcomed daughter Matilda, 2, in March 2023. In fact, she and the Task star got engaged in August 2024, even after she swore off another walk down the aisle.

“Sometimes you just change your mind,” she acknowledged, “and that's okay.”
As for Tom, he certainly seems content with his family life, having recently noted how being a dad has taken over his schedule.
“My daughter owns my life,” the 43-year-old joked with E! News’ Justin Sylvester at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards in January, adding, “Being a dad is my no. 1 priority.”
