The New York Giants fired Brian Daboll from his coaching role on Monday. The Giants made their decision a day after New York's 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 10. While the Giants have announced that offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Mike Kafka will take over as interim head coach, there have been some discussions on who will take over the permanent head coach role at New York.
Later on Monday, former New England Patriots wideout Julian Edelman made a case for North Carolina coach Bill Belichick to take up the Giants' coaching job.
"There's a team down in Chapel Hill that is playing a little better," Edelman said on his "Games With Names" podcast on Monday. "What if the Giants brought in Bill Belichick? He f**king loves them. We all know that. Guy shed a single tear every time we played there.•

Belichick worked with the Giants from 1979 to 1991. He started as a special teams coach and defensive assistant before serving as the defensive coordinator, helping New York win two Super Bowls.
Belichick also worked as the head coach of the New England Patriots for 24 years, winning six Super Bowls. The Patriots fired him in January 2024.
Belichick is in his first year as a college head coach at UNC. The Har Heels are currently 13th in the ACC with a 4-5 (2-3) record.

However, since then, Daboll's Giants never made the playoffs. They finished with a 6-11 record in 2023 and a 3-14 record in 2024. The Giants currently hold a 2-8 record at the time of firing Daboll.
In just under four years at the helm, Daboll posted a 21-41-1 overall record with the Giants.
