Journalism makes comeback of a lifetime to win Preakness Stakes after controversial collision

"Journalism has its day in 2025."

That's how NBC's Mike Tirico announced that Journalism had won the Preakness Stakes on Saturday night. But it was an absolutely improbable victory for the even-money race favorite.

Journalism spent most of the race chilling just a bit off the leaders, four or five lengths back.

He clearly had enough horse in reserve to sprint past the others, but he didn't have a path.

Journalism tried to make his way right through two horses, and nearly got squished out. But somehow, he surged through.

By the time he cleared the traffic, Journalism still had a horse to catch without much time to do it.

But there he went, sprinting to victory in the second race of the Triple Crown series after being runner-up at the Kentucky Derby.
