Josh Jacobs practicing with Packers despite disturbing allegations emerging after arrest

It’s status quo for the Packers this week with Josh Jacobs on the field while he’s under investigation by the Brown County District Attorney’s Office (Wisconsin) over disturbing domestic abuse allegations that landed him in jail last week.

Jacobs was arrested by Hobart-Lawrence police on Tuesday on charges of battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.

The investigation is ongoing after he was released the following day, after the D.A.’s office said that it was “not yet prepared to make a formal charging decision.”

The running back was a full participant in practice on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur described the mood at the team’s OTAs as “business as usual.”

Jacobs received plenty of backing from his teammates on Tuesday when they spoke with reporters and quarterback Jordan Love said that the situation was something that was discussed “internally.”

“Everyone knows what the situation is there and we’ve talked, but obviously the details — everybody’s keeping that under wraps right now just out of respect for the situation and obviously all the legal stuff that’s gonna be playing out,” Love said, according to The Athletic. “But it’s great to have Josh here with us, being able to work with us and get back to work … I was shocked when I saw it, and like I said, it’s one of those things we’re going to let it play out. There’s a lot of uncertainty when you hear something like that of what might happen.”

Safety Xavier McKinney said that Tuesday was not Jacobs’ first day back with the team and that things haven’t been different.

“We’re just going about our regular day and doing what we’ve got to do,” he said, according to ESPN.

Jacobs, 28, did not speak to reporters on Tuesday.

The district attorney’s office has not provided an update as to when it will make a charging decision.

Jacobs has denied the allegations, and in a statement, his lawyers David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld expressed confidence that the investigation “will confirm that no charges should be brought against Josh in the future.”

Dispatcher audio released last week provided new insight into the case, as an operator told police that she could hear “yelling and screaming” on an open line that had been calling from inside the Packers’ running back’s home.

The dispatcher also can be heard telling officers that “things being thrown, open line” and later that a second caller had phoned in saying they were the neighbor and that “her neighbor was assaulted.”

Jacobs is entering his eighth season in the NFL and third with the Packers.

In 15 games in 2025, he had 929 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
