Alabama tight end Josh Ford will suit up for tonight’s matchup against Georgia. News the Crimson Tide were hoping for ahead of their biggest game to date.
Ford broke his arm last week in a 56-23 win over Mississippi State. He had surgery this week and did not miss practice.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel confirmed Ford is “expected to play” against Georgia on College GameDay.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer commented on the status of his tight end, “Josh, he actually broke his arm in the game on Saturday. Had surgery on Sunday and is determined to get on the field.” This game is just as important to him as it is to the fan base, but will his arm affect his ability to impact the game positively for Alabama how much?
LGeorgia has six players ruled out, two of them being running backs Dante Dowdell and Chauncey Bowens. Bowens leads the Bulldogs in rushing touchdowns with six. Instead, the backfield will feature Nate Frazier, who is still recovering from a rib injury.
Ford is a great addition to the running game with his ability to block for a strong Bama running game. We’ll see how his speedy recovery and arm holds up as they look to take down Georgia at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
