Josh Allen cries in emotional moment discussing newborn daughter

Bills quarterback Josh Allen paused to collect himself while giving an emotional speech on becoming a father during a charity event benefitting the Patricia Allen fund, which benefits the critical care teams at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (GCH Buffalo).

Allen’s wife, actress Hailee Steinfeld, gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Harper, in early April.

“Having my daughter, right,” Allen said as eyes filled with tears in a video shared by the “Like a Farmer” podcast co-founded by the quarterback and Pat Spinosa. “I look at you parents differently because I can picture myself in that situation now, where I never could.

“So I just want to say you guys are inspiring to me as well as well, and everybody here — and that was what the Patricia Allen Fund was made for to not just support those kids, but to support these families.

“This year has been so different and I cant really put it into words what it means. But I know that feeling of holding your son or daughter and wanting to take away every pain that they may feel.”

Allen, who spoke to families at 117 Holes for Charity, is open about fatherhood and his changed perspective on life after Harper’s birth.

The reigning NFL MVP proposed to Steinfeld in Malibu in November 2024, and they tied the knot in California last May.

The pair, first photographed together in Manhattan in May 2023, had been dating for roughly two years when he got down on one knee.

The Oscar-nominated actress avoided the spotlight while quietly attending Bills home games during the 2025 season.

Buffalo finished the regular season at 12-5 and fell to the Broncos in the Divisional Round of the playoffs in January.

Allen is entering his ninth season with Buffalo.

The Bills open the 2026 NFL regular season against the Texans Sept. 13 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
