Jordyn Tyson's projection for Saints' rookie season from ESPN is very exciting

The New Orleans Saints made a big decision this offseason to go all-in with investing their assets, whether it was free agent dollars or draft capital, into building the offense around Tyler Shough.

While the presence of Chris Olave made wide receiver not the largest need on the team, the Saints still used their No. 8 overall pick to take Jordyn Tyson, giving the Saints their new No. 2 WR.

Now, the question becomes: What will Tyson do in his rookie season? It's a fun question, and ESPN's Mike Clay shared a projection for the new Saints WR that would give Saints fans a very exciting answer for Tyson's rookie year.

Saints' Jordyn Tyson projected for exciting rookie year

"Jordyn Tyson, New Orleans Saints: 917 yards, 5 TDs," Clay projects. "... History tells us Tate and Tyson will be very busy and productive as rookies."

Tyson might not be projected for 1,000 receiving yards or some lofty touchdown mark, but if he did reach 917 yards and five touchdowns, it would be a very impressive rookie year, especially as the No. 2 receiver.

Carnell Tate of the Tennessee Titans, selected at No. 4 overall, is projected for 1,065 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Tyson isn't far off, and Tate is the Titans' top WR.

With top-10 drafted receivers typically producing strong numbers in year one of their careers, Tyson should be in store for a nice rookie season.

There's plenty of reason to be optimistic about the Saints' offense in 2026, and Tyson is a huge reason why. He was productive in college and was just taken No. 8 in the NFL Draft. The Saints will use him, and the only question is how much use he'll get.

If the injury concerns don't amount to anything in his rookie season, Tyson could be a top contender for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

In an offense with Olave and Shough, Tyson should be able to thrive as the No. 2 receiver, especially with New Orleans fast-paced offense.

Clay is projecting Tyson for an active rookie season, one that's projected as the second-best among rookie receivers behind only Tate.
