Jordon Hudson’s pal prefers the masses focus on what Bill Belichick is building at UNC rather than rehash months-old holiday drama involving the coach’s ex.
On Wednesday, Miss Massachusetts USA Melissa Sapini spoke out after her name was referenced in an incident report from a festive affair in Nantucket, Mass., in December, when she allegedly had a tense encounter with Linda Holliday, the ex-girlfriend of Hudson’s current beau, Belichick, that left her in tears.
“While I understand the attention around the Dreamland event, I just feel like it’s pulling focus from what really matters now. That’s where I hope the attention goes,” Sapini said in a statement to People of the Dreamland “Stroll Party” she attended with Hudson, 24, on Dec. 6.
“What I do want to highlight is the incredible work and dedication of the UNC football team.
“These young men have trained for years to get to this moment in their careers, and they deserve to be the center of attention.”
Belichick, 73, is entering his first season as head coach of the Tar Heels football team.
The message from Sapini came one day after TMZ reported that Holliday — whose split from Belichick was reported in 2023 after 16 years together — “was upset by the presence” of Hudson at the Dreamland soiree, which was headlined by her daughters, and asked an attendant to “remove” the former college cheerleader “from the premises,” according to a copy of the incident report.
Hudson, 24, was confronted by Holliday and others during the event, according to security footage detailed in the incident report, and defended her presence, stating “she’d done nothing wrong.”
The Miss Maine USA hopeful also told a staffer that Sapini “was seemingly threatened by Ms. Holliday, saying that if Ms. Sapini valued her current title, she should think twice about who her friends are and that she, Ms. Holliday, had many powerful friends in the pageant organization.”
Although Sapini “did not speak,” the pageant winner “did begin to cry.”
Sapini posted about the Nantucket Stroll with Hudson on Instagram in December, captioning the photographs, in part, “Oh Baby, We Strolled.”
Hudson, whose romance with Belichick has been under intense scrutiny in recent months, has leaned on Sapini for support as she and the eight-time Super Bowl winner take on Chapel Hill as part of the NFL legend’s next chapter.
In January, Sapini joined Hudson at a UNC basketball game, with the friends posing courtside with UNC’s mascot, Rameses.
Hudson and Belichick are reported to have met aboard a flight in 2021. They went public with their relationship three years later.
The New York Times recently reported Hudson has told “at least one person” she and Belichick “are engaged to be married.”
