"Jordan Love is bad": Chris Canty sounds alarm for Matt LaFleur, Jordan Love after Packers’ 10-7 loss to Eagles

Jordan Love had a disppointing performance in the Green Bay Packers' 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. He has failed to throw a touchdown pass in back-to-back games. Former NFL defensive end Chris Canty criticized him and warned that the quarterback's struggles threaten Packers coach Matt LaFleur's job security.

Canty took a dig at Love on Tuesday.

"I'm very concerned," Canty said, via "First Take." "Jordan Love is bad, and he's probably going to get his coach fired if he can't get it fixed."

Canty highlighted that the Packers, under new team president Ed Policy, deliberately chose not to extend Brian Gutekunst or Matt LaFleur during the offseason. The general manager and the coach are in their penultimate contract years.

"Now, typically, the Packers don't like to operate like that," Canty said. "When you're a couple of years out from a contract extension, they want to get those deals done. But there's a reason why he hit the pause button on that. "When you make the move Green Bay did before the season and trading multiple first round draft picks and Kenny Clark, who is a perennial Pro Bowler for Micah Parsons, what you are saying is that you believe this roster is good enough to contend for a championship, and every single facet of the team is playing at a high level except for the quarterback."

The acquisition of Micah Parsons cost Green Bay draft capital that could have addressed other roster needs. It's a move that suggests that the team views Love as a championship-caliber quarterback. However, his performance against Philadelphia suggested otherwise.

Canty pointed to Love's contract as a further complication. The franchise signed him to a four-year $220 million contract in July 2024, but according to Canty, Love is not good enough.

While Canty acknowledged that LaFleur shares responsibility, playcalling, scheme decisions and offensive strategy, the fundamental issue centers on quarterback execution.

Jordan Love's struggles against the Eagles

Jordan Love delivered one of the worst performances of his NFL career on Monday against Philadelphia. He completed just 20 of 36 passes for 176 yards with zero touchdowns, zero interceptions and two fumbles. The 4.9 yards-per-attempt mark was his lowest efficiency output as a starter.

Facing an Eagles secondary depleted by injuries, Love failed to generate explosive plays. Phildelphia's defense, led by new edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, forced questionable decisions from the Packers quarterback.
