Jonas Brothers’ mid-game World Series performance confuses MLB fans

Some MLB fans were caught off guard Saturday when the Jonas Brothers took the stage midway through the Dodgers’ eventual Game 2 win over the Blue Jays in the World Series.

Performing “I Can’t Lose” as part of the “Stand Up to Cancer” initiative, in which players, personnel and spectators hold up placards to pay tribute to those impacted by cancer, the pop trio was featured after the fifth inning — with the score tied at one apiece — resulting in some on social media expressing bewilderment over the timing of the in-game show, not the campaign itself.

“As touching as this moment was… doing it in the middle of the World Series Game 2 tie game?? And then randomly have the Jonas Brothers sing???” an X user posted.

“Jonas Brothers playing in between innings of the World Series was not on my bingo card,” another user wrote on X.

While one X user provided clarity on the moment in question, they too thought the appearance from the JoBros was “super random.”

“For anyone wondering, that wasn’t new. The MLB does this ‘stand up to Cancer’ intermission at the All-Star games and at some point during the #WorldSeries,” X user @JacobPacheco6 wrote alongside a snap from a similar occurrence at the MLB All-Star Game in July. “Touching moment. But the Jonas Brothers was super random.”

The in-stadium “Stand Up to Cancer” placard moment has been an MLB tradition for years, per the league’s official website.

The Jonas Brothers, comprised of siblings Kevin Jonas, 37, Joe Jonas, 36, and Nick Jonas, 33, honored their father, Kevin Jonas Sr., a cancer survivor.

The Dodgers, who were walloped 11-4 in Game 1, closed out the second game in Toronto with a 5-1 victory at the Rogers Centre.

Star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out eight in his second consecutive complete game.

Game 3 of the World Series gets underway Monday in Los Angeles.
