The Cleveland Browns quarterback competition has been one of the largest discussions of the offseason, bringing out opinions from every corner of the NFL media sphere. The most recent notable comments came from former Browns quarterback and football superstar Johnny Manziel. The former Heisman winner was speaking with Maxx Crosby on Glory Daze.
“Honestly he can come out and win the job, I think he’ll do well, I really do,” Manziel said.
Manziel was drafted in the first round by the Browns back in 2014. In two seasons with Cleveland, he threw seven touchdowns and seven interceptions, going 2-6 in eight starts. If his prediction comes true, Sanders will beat out Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel to earn the starting job and be the man to lead the Browns out in Week 1 when they play the Cincinnati Bengals.
Should Sanders be the starter, he would be the first Browns rookie to start week 1 at quarterback since Deshone Kizer in 2017 when the Browns went 0-16.
