Champions generally sell, count the money, and hope the core sticks together for another run. John Schneider seems to have ignored that memo.
According to an unnamed source quoted by @SeahawksForever on X, Schneider made an inquiry into the idea of bringing Myles Garrett to the Seattle Seahawks. It was a "serious inquiry," according to the source. No deal appears likely, but the phone call is apparently a thing that happened.
Thibodeaux also surfaces as a legitimate and cheaper path to Seattle
Also, Schneider spoke with the New York Giants organization about trading for their edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. That's from the same unnamed source mentioned above. Thibodeaux is described as a "legitimate trade target" for Seattle.
According to Ian O'Connor of The Athletic, Giants would "have to trade the edge rusher" should Seattle offer a late second-round or early third-round selection in return. That'd be a small price compared to what they would have to pay for Garrett.
Garrett is the big news here. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year shattered the NFL's single-season sacks record with 23 in 2025, yet the Cleveland Browns continue to insist they will keep him around.
Cleveland recently reworked Garrett's contract. The restructuring involved the payment timeline of his option bonus, which suggests there's something in there worth having.
According to a source close to the #Seahawks, GM John Schneider spoke with #Browns GM Andrew Berry about the possibility of trading for DE Myles Garrett.
The source added it was a "serious inquiry" but a trade isn't imminent.

The cost of any deal involving Garrett would undoubtedly be exorbitant. Other comparable moves involve the exchange of two first-rounders as a bare minimum; a better resume might push that baseline higher. Seattle currently has over $33 million in cap room but has very little draft capital available in this season's draft.
None of this indicates Schneider pursued either acquisition past the preliminary stage, and there's a chance his interest doesn't extend beyond due diligence.
However, Seattle did lose Boye Mafe to the Bengals during the offseason, leaving a rather shallow depth at edge rusher behind DeMarcus Lawrence.
Thibodeaux might be cheaper and more practical, not to mention the better choice overall. Acquiring Garrett is a pipedream. More often than not, it remains just that.
