Taylor Swift Addresses Joe Alwyn, Matty Healy Breakups in Rare Comment
Joe Alwyn and Sarah Pidgeon might be writing a love story of their own.
Over three years after his split from Taylor Swift, the Kinds of Kindness actor stepped out alongside the Love Story actress in Brooklyn for a cozy outing.
Indeed, Alwyn and Pidgeon kept their hands intertwined as they walked through the New York borough. The duo kept it casual—with Alwyn sporting a black T-shirt and jeans with sneakers, while Pidgeon opted for a white tank top with jeans and black flats.
In addition to walking around the city, the pair met up with Alwyn’s brother Patrick Alwyn for drinks at the restaurant Walter’s. And inside the Fort Greene joint, the duo even shared a kiss in front of the storefront’s main window.
The outing comes just over a month after the stars crossed paths at the Met Gala 2026. For Pidgeon, it was her debut at the annual fashion event, coming months she shot to stardom for her role in Love Story: John F. Kennedy and Carolyn Bessette alongside Paul Anthony Kelly.
Meanwhile, Alwyn’s attendance marked his first time attending the event in 10 years. Indeed, Alwyn’s last time stepping out at the event in 2016 is rumored to be where he and Swift first crossed paths, as their relationship was confirmed a year later.
Alwyn and Swift never confirmed their meet cute, but fans previously noted that a lyric in the Grammy winner’s song “Dress” indicates it could have been at the 2016 Met Gala—which is also the last time Swift attended, sporting a Louis Vuitton gown and a short-lived bleached hairdo.
“Flashback to when you met me,” Swift sings on the Reputation track. “Your buzzed cut and my hair bleached.”

Throughout their six-year romance, Alwyn and Swift were notoriously private, which earned The Favourite star backlash once Swift’s extremely high profile romance with Travis Kelce—to whom she’s now engaged—began in 2023.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift told TIME of dating Kelce in 2023. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
Indeed, Swift’s willingness to be so public with Kelce led many of her fans to believe that Alwyn was to blame for their own low-key romance, but the 35-year-old later pushed back on the narrative.
“As everyone knows, we together—both of us, mutually—decided to keep the more private details of our relationship private,” Alwyn told The Sunday Times in 2024. “It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now.”
