JJ Redick rips Lakers after 'terrible' outing against Warriors

4 hours ago 2

The Los Angeles Lakers got off on the wrong foot to start their season last night, dropping their first game to the Golden State Warriors 119-109.

International superstar Luka Doncic did all he could to propel his team to victory, scoring 43 points to go along with 12 rebounds and nine assists, but it wasn't enough for the LeBron James-less Lakers.

After the game, head coach JJ Redick ripped his team during his postgame press conference, citing problems that have plagued them since the 2024-25 season.

JJ Redick calls out terrible Lakers trend

"The trend I see is that we continue to be a terrible third-quarter team to start," Redick seethed.

"That was last year; that was the preseason. Gotta rethink some things, and it’s a two-way thing with the guys. What do they need at halftime to make sure they’re ready to play? They’re not ready to play to start the third quarter."

The Lakers were outscored in last night's third quarter 35-25 and were unable to claw their way back into the game after that.

It didn't help that the Warriors seemed to be clicking, as Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler combined for a total of 54 points en route to a Golden State victory.

Regardless, it was game one of an 82-game season, and Los Angeles will surely have time to sort out their third-quarter woes.

But in the meantime, a date with their Western Conference rival Minnesota Timberwolves, is on deck.

And surely Anthony Edwards and company look forward to seeing the team they knocked out in the first round this past Spring.
