Jimmy Kimmel may be a grandfather now, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop making controversial jokes about President Trump and his family on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The late night host announced at the top of Tuesday’s show that they canceled the previous evening’s taping after his daughter went into labor. He wasted no time at all before he began cracking jokes about his granddaughter.
“The baby’s very healthy, they gave her a very cute name. Her name is Melania, it’s Melania Thee Stallion,” he joked. He then clarified that his granddaughter’s name is Patti, “like the melt.”
Kimmel later aired a clip of President Trump’s Fox News interview where he addressed the recent birth of his new grandchild. The late night host edited the clip to make it appear as if Trump was wishing his family well, despite the fact that Kimmel and Trump have been publicly feuding for years.
“They’re a really good couple. Great couple, I think. And the baby is perfect,” Trump says in the interview. “I’ll let you know about it in 21 years but the baby is good so we’re happy about that. We look forward to seeing the baby.”
The late night host was quick to lay down the law with President Trump.
“You are NOT dating her in 21 years,” he said.
After reporting on Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” and First Lady Melania Trump’s anti-deep fake porn speech, Kimmel ended his monologue by reflecting on what his granddaughter may think of his show one day
“One day, there’s a good possibility that my granddaughter will watch this monologue. You know, when you give people a newspaper from the day they were born,” he said. “This would be her version of that. On this day in 2025, the First Lady did battle against deep fake porn.”
He added that kids these days have a lot more to worry about than he did.
“It is kind of scary though to bring a child into this world… I mean these kids have to worry about the climate going on fire, MAGA, AI,” he said.
“The most dangerous scenarios the future held when I was a kid was honestly quicksand, the Bermuda Triangle, and killer bees. That was the trio of terror for me. Still haven’t seen a hint from any of those things,” Kimmel added.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
