Jimmy Butler believes he’ll return better than ever

Nearly four months removed from ACL surgery on his right knee, Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler is confident he will return to the court at an elite level and help lead the franchise back into championship contention.

Speaking with ESPN during a recent appearance in San Francisco, Butler expressed unwavering confidence in his recovery and his ability to remain one of the NBA’s top players once he is medically

“I’m right back to who I’ve always been,” Butler said. “Probably better if we was to really talk about it. I know I’m still going to be a top player whenever I get back. I have a couple good years left in me, and we’re going to ride it until the wheels fall off.”

The six-time NBA All-Star suffered the season-ending knee injury earlier this year, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as Golden State’s postseason aspirations came to an end. While the Warriors have not announced a timetable for his return, Butler’s confidence suggests he expects to make a major impact once healthy.

Butler was in San Francisco this week as the featured guest during the Warriors’ announcement of a new jersey patch sponsorship. While the event focused on the organization’s latest business partnership, Butler’s comments about his future quickly became one of the day’s biggest storylines.

The veteran forward made it clear that he hopes Golden State will be the final stop of his illustrious NBA career.

“End is a bad word, but this is where I want to be done,” Butler said. “Retire here. This organization is top-tier. It’s the best. Keep it a buck. It’s the best. You’re playing with one of the greatest players ever. I’m grateful to be able to witness this. I want to be able to do my part, get this organization back on top where we belong.”

The opportunity to share the floor with four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry remains one of Butler’s greatest motivations. He believes the Warriors still possess the talent and culture necessary to compete for another title once the roster returns to full strength.

As Butler continues his rehabilitation, Warriors fans have reason for optimism. If his recovery progresses as expected, Golden State could welcome back one of the league’s fiercest competitors one who is determined not only to contend for another championship but also to finish his career wearing a Warriors uniform.
