The Jets are shedding some veteran weight.

Kicker Anders Carlson was released by the team Wednesday after a brief stint in New York, the team announced, following the signing of Harrison Mevis, widely known as the “Thiccer Kicker.”

Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick with the Packers, kicked in five games for the Jets and went 8-for-10 on field goals.

He joined the Jets’ practice squad in November after his release from the 49ers.

A 6-foot, 242-pound kicker out of Missouri — where he earned his infamous nickname — Mevis made 20 of 21 attempts during the 2025 UFL season with the Birmingham Stallions.

Mevis signed with the Stallions in December following his release from the Carolina Panthers earlier in the year.

He has not yet appeared in an NFL game.

Mevis joins a new-look Jets team guided by the first-year tandem of coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey.

Kicking was one of the many problems that plagued the Jets’ 2024 campaign, with the club continuously rotating at the position as far into the year as January, when Greg Joseph became the fifth kicker of the season.

The Jets finished the season at 5-12 and missed the playoffs.
