Breece Hall is in a bit of an odd spot with the New York Jets.
He's a star running back both as a rusher and receiver. He's also entering the final year of his contract at a position that generally doesn't wind up with great paydays.
So what happens next?
Early this offseason, new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn talked up backups Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, leading many to wonder whether they'd take over and Hall might get traded.
Hall added to the question marks on Thursday with a cryptic three-word post on X:
"Time will tell," wrote Hall.

Time will tell
— Breece Hall (@BreeceH) August 7, 2025What is time meant to tell?
Maybe this is an allusion to an upcoming trade, or a non-trade.
Maybe it's in regard to a contract Hall wanted from the Jets, one they opted not to give him.

Maybe it just has to do with the season Hall hopes is loading for himself.
Hall is just 24 years old. He's coming off a year with 876 rushing yards (4.2 ypc) and five touchdowns. He also caught 57 passes for 483 yards and three more TDs.
He was even better the year before, with 994 rushing and 591 receiving yards (76 catches).
This is a guy who looks like a current and future star, yet the nature of the RB position means there's still plenty of uncertainty around him.
He's right that time will tell. But what it will tell in the case of this young star running back? There's no way to know yet.
